Sharing President Obama

20 January 2009 326 views 4 Comments

who-is-barack-obamaLast night, The Man and I were watching news coverage of the events leading up to the Inauguration today.  Of course, there were plenty of interviews with African Americans and what the Obama presidency means of them.  Not so much with the interviews of “everybody” else.

WTF?

So, my comment is pretty much to the folks that control the media in this country. Please remember that Barack H. Obama is about to be sworn in as the President of the United States of America, and not as the President of the Black Folks of America.

We share him with everyone.

His decisions won’t just affect African Americans.

So, media conglomerate, please remember that as of noon today, Obama is OUR president.

I’m just saying.

How true! I’ve been watching ESPN and the NFL Network, and while I’ve enjoyed hearing the athletes speak about Obama and this day, I was disappointed that I didn’t see any white athletes interviewed.

However, I believe Obama is totally aware of this, and will represent all.

…or athletes of other races too.

Thanks Vera. I think his Inaugural address made that clear. My head hurts from all the happy tears.

Yep…I felt he was my president. The other thing, God bless the media, I heard a minister either in Charleston or Washington who almost got it right — “Obama is not the president for black men, he is the president for all men…” That still leaves my favorite 50% of the population out.
