Last night, The Man and I were watching news coverage of the events leading up to the Inauguration today. Of course, there were plenty of interviews with African Americans and what the Obama presidency means of them. Not so much with the interviews of “everybody” else.
WTF?
So, my comment is pretty much to the folks that control the media in this country. Please remember that Barack H. Obama is about to be sworn in as the President of the United States of America, and not as the President of the Black …

I am an eight hour a night girl when it comes to sleep. If I don’t get all my hours in, I’m a walking grump with dark circles.
My loved ones avoid me like the plague.
I take my sleeping seriously. It’s nothing to be played with. As a matter of fact, I ENJOY sleeping. Unlike The Man, who thinks that if he’s sleeping, he’s missing something.
A few nights ago, I woke up suddenly and HAD to write. Not like coherent, finishing up a project, or great new idea coming …

by Philippa Gregory.
Sexy, historical read that chronicles the rise and fall of Anne Boleyn. We all know her story, but Gregory revists the tale from Mary Boleyn’s point of view.
It’s an entertaining read and I was drawn in by the machinations of the Boleyn family. The phrase “by any means necessary” probably originated with them. It’s all about getting next to the king and producing a male heir.
Gregory’s spin on things will keep you engaged. It’s definitely something you can sink your teeth in on a drab winter day.

I know that the website is called Diva Fiction Bytes.
I know that short tales should abound on this website.
New ones, that is. And they will.
As soon as I stop letting the inner critic shut me down every five minutes.
I have been working on a Fiction Byte for over a week that simply cracks me up. In my head. When I get it out on paper, not so much. So, instead of moving on to something else (too many stories, too little time), I have been wrestling with …

Umm. See. I love boots.
I love boots almost as much as I love books.
I feel sexiest in hot pair of jeans and some bad-ass boots. Add a fitted white shirt, and you can’t tell this chica nothin’!
I just found out that these boots (Charlie 1 Horse by Lucchese) are finally on sale.
What to do? What to do?

I tried to think of another title for this post. I really did. Nothing else brought it home as well as: I. Hate. Ass-kissin’.
I especially hate ass-kissin’ in the professional realm.
I have a very low tolerance for disingenuous interactions. In my climb up the managerial ladder, I have seen many folks schmooze their boss (or boss’s boss ) in order to gain favor. Their interest in the other person is in a very “slimy” way. Not just because the person may be interesting or …

As you can see, there have been some changes here at Diva Fiction Bytes. A little less color, a bit more structure. Everything has its place.
And, just in time to start the year off on a positive foot. Whatever. I had to say that because it’s still January. Seems like whenever somebody makes a change in January, it’s attributed to the New Year. But I digress.
I love the new layout. It’s better organized and brighter. Exactly how I like things.
And it is just beckoning me to get my ass …
