Bitter is the New Black by Jen Lancaster
The full title is: Bitter is the New Black: Confessions of a Condescending, Egomaniacal, Self-Centered Smartass, Or, Why You Should Never Carry a Prada Bag to the Unemployment Office
You can see why I decided to use the short version for my post title.
Synopsis(from www.barnesandnoble.com)
Jen Lancaster was living the sweet life-until real life kicked her to the curb.
She had the perfect man, the perfect job-hell, she had the perfect life-and there was no reason to think it wouldn’t last. Or maybe there was, but Jen Lancaster was too busy being manicured, pedicured, highlighted, and generally adored to notice.
This is the smart-mouthed, soul-searching story of a woman trying to figure out what happens next when she’s gone from six figures to unemployment checks and she stops to reconsider some of the less-than-rosy attitudes and values she thought she’d never have to answer for when times were good.
Filled with caustic wit and unusual insight, it’s a rollicking read as speedy and unpredictable as the trajectory of a burst balloon.
Jen Lancaster’s memoir is obnoxiously funny. She’s witty, irreverent, and just plain old mean at times, but don’t let that stop you. Actually, for me, it was the draw.
You may find yourself wondering “how could she!” as well as thinking that a plague on her house might not be a bad thing. But take heart- Jen does have a heart. She’s just selective in her use of it. Bitter will make you laugh (or at least yell “no she didn’t!” with a neck roll). Her follow up books are on my list.
I loved this book. Can’t help it. It’s the mean-girl in me.

Oh wow this is a memoir…sounds good…like something I want to read. Will check to see if library has a copy.
I think that you will really enjoy it. And I guarantee that you will LOL with this one.
