Blackberry Slacker

pic1Apparently, that is exactly what I am.

Seems some guy out there has been using his smart phone to write books.  In fact, he wrote large portions of his latest novel while on the train commuting back and forth to work.

And here I thought my Blackberry was for checking email, reading blogs in Viigo, texting The Man, playing on Facebook, and using Twitter to bore the world with my comings and goings.

Does that mean that I should be thumbing my books on my Blackberry in order to be more productive?

I’ll have to  pass on the repetitive motion injury.  But thanks anyway.

I’m thinking I may need to use my thumbs in the future.

I’m just saying.

You can check out the back-story on Peter V. Brett’s smart phone feat, as well as his views on the future of books vs. digital media here.

In the meantime, I’m going to continue using BabyMac to get my writing done.

Wow…all this time I thought I was getting the most out of my blackberry. I read his article and I do not understand how he could do it. All I am left with is wow.

LOL. I’m feeling you Lashonda. I can’t see myself writing pages and pages on tiny qwerty. No way, no how. Although, I’ve been thinking about the article all day, and I’m wondering if I could do it- write only on my Blackberry for one day. May give it a shot this weekend. I’ll let you know how it goes if I do try it.

Well, at least he did it while riding and not driving! Some crackberry addict driving in front of me kept stopping short yesterday on the interstate during the morning commute. I got really ticked and changed lanes to protect my life (he was in the fast lane). I tried to give him the evil eye as I passed him by, but alas, he was too damned busy texting to notice me!!! Unfortunately, there was a car in front of him too and as I sped up to pass her, guess what she was doing???? You guessed it. Lord, help us all. Let’s pray that we don’t start hearing about what people have accomplished on their crackberry while driving.

Hey Pam! I remember when I lived outside of DC and had an hour commute (one way) to work in southern Maryland and I would see people reading the newspaper on the highway. Scared the crap out of me. I won’t text and drive. I will text at a stoplight though, so I have been blown at a couple of times. LOL If it’s important, I have The Man or The Girl text for me, or I actually call (imagine that). Most of it can wait until I get where I’m going though. Be safe out there.
