The Second Time Around

1076936_wedding_cake_10I went to the wedding of my former sister-in-law this weekend. This is her second marriage, and she looked REALLY happy.  And the groom looked REALLY happy.  And it made me think that sometimes when I go to weddings, neither party looks REALLY happy about what they are doing.

It could be that one or both parties are hung over from the bachelor/bachelorette parties.

Or it could be that they are just very serious people.

Or  very nervous people.

But really, when I think about some of the weddings I’ve been to over the years, some of the brides and grooms did not look very HAPPY to be tying the knot.

And I would wonder why they were doing something they didn’t really look like they wanted to do.

On the flip side, I love it when love is really in the air.

Like when the groom’s face lights up as the bride walks down the aisle.  Or when the bride (or the groom) gets choked up saying the vows.

I always ask a silent blessing that the couple will continue to feel about each other the way they do at that very moment and that their love will endure.

I don’t think of myself as a romantic person. Just occasionally hopeful.

Marriage isn’t that bad.

If that’s what you want to do.

I agree, I saw their joy myself.

My face lights up and my heart starts beating faster EVERY time I see you. No wedding required.

Awe. You two are sweet. Some to the people getting married that don’t look happy could have just received the bill for the wedding. I didn’t have nor did I want a big or small wedding. Just the thought of that debacle detered me from marriage. Until I realized that I could get married without the hoopla and Its expense. Who wants to start off marriage in debt because of a ceremony. Bah humbug.

You are so right about the look on peoples faces as they take the plunge. I think you may have hit the nail on the head with the partying the night b4. LOL Both parties feeling guilty about the stripper they were lusting after.LOL

@Michael- thanks Babe! You are so sweet.

@Trina- girl, I hadn’t thought about the bills. That would make anyone look sad.

@ Lashonda- LOL @ the strippers. I was at a wedding years ago when the folks started in on each other shortly after the ceremony. I was like what did y’all go through all that for if you can’t even be happy together for this ONE day. LOL
