Inspiration
No clever titles today. Some things just are what they are.
I have spent the last three days painting. If you are not talking or singing, you have plenty of time for ruminating.
Today, I was just getting tired of the act of painting. I was not in the greatest of moods. I just wanted to be done. To distract myself, I tried thinking about all the writing that I wasn’t getting done and how I’m stuck on my novel and don’t know how to move it forward. Which only made me anxious and frustrated, so I decided to be Scarlett O’Hara and just not think about it anymore.
And that worked perfectly well.
Until a few minutes ago when the The Girl brought me something she wanted me to read that very moment. So I humored her, and while reading it, the floodgates opened up and all sorts of ideas started to come to me about my own work in progress.
Except it’s for my non-fiction book, not my novel.
Hey, I’ll take inspiration where ever I can get it.
Gotta go write until my wrist hurts.
Hope Monday was a good one for you.

I so know what you mean about being stuck. I want to be done with any class that requires me to do a lot of reading and essay writing so I can focus on my work in progress. But I still have another five weeks before I get a break. I am trying to fit a little writing in here and there. I still get my reading in but I get a burst of inspiration at the wrong time and I have to jot a little down and wait until later. Take your inspiration anyway you can get it. And whatever you do don’t give up and keep writing.
Thanks Jennifer. This writing thing is no joke. And the funny thing is, it’s not one of those things that I can say- aw, it’s not working out – and then walk away from. I love doing it. Sigh. Good luck with your last few weeks of class. Just make sure you read all the trash you can this summer.
I was startled awake with TWO ideas on blog subjects. Wow. Good stuff! Great!
I did NOT sit up and write them down on a bedside pad. I rolled over and went back to sleep.
Have no idea now what they were but they were golden.
I think.
