Writer Girl- Ep 2

She sat at her desk listening to the owl hoot. It was pretty strange considering it was 5:05 in the evening. She wondered if the gray days had the poor thing a little confused. And then she wondered where he was. Was he sitting on the fence separating her yard from her neighbor’s, or was he up in the tree on a low hanging branch? The thought of going out to look for him suddenly felt like a brilliant idea. But, then what? Tell him that it was too early for him to be up and about? Nope. That definitely wouldn’t work. Besides, she was supposed to be writing.
Does staring at the calendar on the wall count as writing? How about listening to the clock tick? (Funny, but when she actually did do some writing, the clock usually got on her one good nerve.) Looking out the window was not an option today. Nothing to see but gray skies and rain drops.
The hooting owl continued to bug her, so she opened up her Internet browser and Googled whether or not owls actually hoot during the day. Come to find out, some do. It was then that she decided to go outside and see if she could take a picture of the owl for identification purposes. By the time she found her camera and headed into the backyard, he was gone. And, rightfully so. What did an owl hooting have to do with writing? She returned to her desk and computer and resumed staring at the calendar.
Boy, she thought, this writing thing sure is hard.
