Riding The Wave- Preview

So, as promised, here is an excerpt from Riding The Wave. Just a little something to get you started.  Episodes will post Monday-Friday from August 3 through the 28th.
I am just putting the Jeep in park when it starts.  I squeeze the steering wheel with both hands because there isn’t much else for me to do.  The heat is starting down below, and spreading rapidly.  I throw my head back against the seat and wait it out. Until a couple of months ago, I didn’t know that 90 seconds …

Drumroll please…

Earlier in the month, I mentioned a WIP that I actually plotted from beginning to end in one long stretch of an evening.
Well, I’m happy to say that you’ll be able to read Riding The Wave on Monday.  August will be all fiction, all the time at DFB.
Riding The Wave is about a woman in the middle of several life changes when she starts experiencing involuntary orgasms.  If I say much more, then you won’t have any reason to come back next month and read my story, now will …

Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay

I love a good read, and I love good television, so you can imagine how I feel about a good book becoming a television series. A few seasons ago, Showtime introduced viewers to Dexter, the serial killer with a conscience. OK, maybe not a conscience, so much, but definitely a code. I was instantly hooked.
In honor of Dexter’s new season in September, I decided to go back and read the books. Darkly Dreaming Dexter is the first, and when it was all said and done, I so …

Dear Jerry Seinfeld

thanks for your show about nothing.
It paved the way for internet navel gazing- also known as personal blogging. I believe in giving credit where it’s due.
I’m not hating (seeing as I fit into this category).
Just drawing some obvious conclusions.
Sincerely,
Diva
It’s Tuesday.  I’m trying to finish some fiction for the website for August, as well as make money to pay bills.  What do you want from me?

Owwwwww!!

Me after boot camp on Friday.
Actually, I couldn’t move my arms.
ALL WEEKEND.
Seriously, I cannot describe the amount of pain I experienced in the aftermath.
Feeling better now.  Will get back to writing today.
I will not complain about running again.
At least until the memory of boot camp soreness and inability to move arms wears off.

A Few More Tweaks

I did not bulldoze my site.
I got rid of some stuff and moved some other stuff around.
It’s kinda like when your mom would get pissed and she would make you help her rearrange all the furniture  in the living room.  OK- maybe my mom was the only one to do that.
Anyway, things are a little simpler here at DFB. Subscribe to the feed to get posts in your email. ( If you are an old subscriber, you’ll have to sign up again-sorry about that, couldn’t be helped). Or just stop …

Feels Like Slime…

I know this picture is all kinds of wrong, but it so fits how I feel when I get Twitter slimed.
You know the drill.  You get the email saying “First and Last Name is following you.” You get excited when you click on their profile because they look like a normal person, not the porno king or queen of the week. Until you get to their website, and it’s one big advertisement, telling you how different they are from other marketers, how you can trust them because they make …

Chosen by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast

This is the third book in the House of Night Series.  Zoey is definitely growing up.  Three boyfriends, incredible power, and keeping things from her friends all equate to real trouble.
While I’m still finding the series interesting, there is a scene that certainly has me troubled.  Zoey and one of her boyfriends are in the park making out when approached by two young black males that are stereotypically described in behavior and dress as gang members.  Because of their threatening stance and remarks, they are flung into traffic by …

Doing Me

Because of my consulting gig, I  travel back and forth from Charleston to Columbia for meetings, which means that I have a lot of time in the car.  Alone.
This is fine.  I listen to the TJMS if it’s morning, or my iPod.
Sometimes, I just drive in silence and think. Yes, I still actually have the ability to do that.
And writing is ALWAYS on my mind.
The theme for this week is censorship.  And I’ve been mentally checking myself and my writing for ways that I censor.
Here is my list:

I only hit …
