Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay
I love a good read, and I love good television, so you can imagine how I feel about a good book becoming a television series. A few seasons ago, Showtime introduced viewers to Dexter, the serial killer with a conscience. OK, maybe not a conscience, so much, but definitely a code. I was instantly hooked. In honor of Dexter’s new season in September, I decided to go back and read the books. Darkly Dreaming Dexter is the first, and when it was all said and done, I so wished I had read it before I ever saw the show. Since that didn’t happen, let me say that as is usually the case, the show diverges from the book, but each is entertaining in it’s own right.
Dexter’s code keeps him on the straight and narrow. Sort of. I mean, he still kills people, but only those folks who need killing.
Um. Well. I can see that this can get very complicated morally, even in the explaining.
Read the book, and see for yourself. I’ve got the other two books in the very large To Read pile on the night stand.
