Books In The Bathroom
OK, so my friend T has more books than I can shake a stick at. Her den will induce book envy in even the most die-hard bibliophile. But the coup de’ gras is her guest bathroom. She has a bookshelf of an appropriate size loaded with cool reading material.
When The Man and I consolidated homes (i.e., moved in together) the question of what to do with all of my books came up. Basically, he didn’t think it was cool for me to keep them in boxes and piles in the living room, and I think it’s a cardinal sin to put them in the attic. So, we bought bookshelves because apparently nice neat stacks lining every wall in the house is not considered aesthetically pleasing. Whatever.
Which brings me back to T’s bathroom. I love, love, love using her guest bathroom. There is always something that piques my interest. I take my time. No need to rush. I’ve got plenty to entertain me.
I actually think T is a freakin’ genius for doing this. She was thinking about her guests’ every need. Or maybe it was because she was running out of space. Either way, it’s a win-win for everyone.
It’s got me looking at the half-bath downstairs with a different eye. Maybe we can enlarge it and make it a mini-library of sorts. Great shelving lined with great books. A good time will be had by all.
I’m just saying.
Editor’s Note: At the time of this posting, The Man’s response was not just no, but hell no. When the books start procreating on their own, I’m sure he’ll see things my way.

This so reminds me of that episode of Seinfeld, when George takes a book into the bathroom at the local bookstore and it gets flagged and is no longer allowed back on the regular book shelf…….I like the idea………my spouse is a clutz though. I wonder how many will end up mysteriously wet; then paranoia sets in because you won’t know if its from water from the sink or the toilet. LOL.
Josie, I thought my imagination ran wild. You are a nut.
Love it. My husband actaully picked up a book I left on the side of the tub and read it because there was nothing else to do in the bathroom. I have tried since then to duplicate the action with no luck. He just does not get books like I do.
I think the upstairs bathroom could fit some bookshelves so when I visit, I could take a tubbie and read for a few days. Tell The Man I would stay out of his hair that way.
I’m just saying, too.
Hey The Man’s Favorite Sister- come on down. You can stay in the tub as long as you like. Plus it’s a lot warmer here in the fall. You won’t have to worry about it snowing early. lol
@Lashonda- that is great. Too bad it only happened once. The Man used to be an avid reader, but he doesn’t read much these days but magazines. Men are strange like that. lol
I am so glad that you like my bathroom Diva. I was thinking about my guest when I put it together. Now I need a book shelf in the Kitchen…you know that’s where the ‘gals’ congregate. I’m running out of counter space in there right now. My books are like my kids…so I can’t think of them in boxes or in an attic…I’m feeling you there. I like how you guys have the books situated though. They are everywhere and I like it. I agree with The Man’s Favorite Sister though…we want books in the guest bath upstairs PLEASE!!!
Romo says Hi!
Hey KLoveA, I’m working on the books in our guest bathroom as well. It has to be pleasing to The Man’s eye. I do like having books about the house as decoration. Who knew. Tell Romo I said Hola and I can’t wait to see him again with his cute self. Even in a sweater. lol
