Passion Redux
I am passionate about so many things: reading, writing, social justice, bad-ass boots, and finding great desserts. And those are just drops in the bucket.
Last night while yelling at the television during the local news, The Man turned to me and suggested that I run for office.
blink. blink. blink.
He floored me mid-rant. Only because not 24 hours earlier, I had the same thought. I just hadn’t gotten around to expressing it to him.
I get so frustrated with the status quo in my country, my state, my county, and my city, and lately, I have been wondering what I can do about it. You can only rant so much before folks start to ignore the crazy woman with opinions on everything. And besides, haven’t we learned from all those town hall meetings staged sponsored by Republicans this summer that shouting just makes it harder to hear when someone you don’t agree with calls you an asshole.
But this is about passion, and the fact that I have lots of it. Some days I feel I’m vibrating with all that I want to get done in this life. Today is one of those days. I woke up with writing on my mind, business questions and concerns that I want answered now so that I can move into my next professional phase, and of course, and a list of all the societal ills that I need to begin to set right. I’m full of possibilities (among other things) and am trying to figure out where to start first.
For now, I’ll get back to my day job, until my writing career takes off, and then I can use my platform as a writer to crusade for the causes I believe in, which may just jump start my life as a politician.
See how my mind works? This is why writing suits me.
Enjoy your day and indulge in at least one of your passions today.

Indeed you should run for office Diva. I think it’s a great idea. I know you are highly peeved at the politicians lately. I am peeved at myself and the rest of the Americans who vote for politicians, and then we just go blind…After we are jolted back into vision, we realize all the changes that were made by the politicians that we voted for.
I guess the last presidency is the catapult for everyone’s involvement now, but it’s a little too late. The damage is done. We are left to rebuild and pick up pieces. I learned my lesson. I’m paying attention, and I’m getting involved.
