The race to finish my first novel by the end of the year is on.

I’m pounding words out until my eyes cross. I have a plan, and I’m working it.

But my characters seem to be on a different page (pun intended).

They aren’t listening to me. They’re not following my carefully laid out plot. They aren’t saying things I want them to say.

What the hell?

I can’t even get fictional people to listen to me!

Instead of continuing to struggle with these guys, I’m going down the rabbit hole. I’ll let them have their fun for now.

And then I’ll pay their asses back when it’s time to re-write.

What?!

This is what writers do.
