To Whom It May Concern,
I like the color pink. Get over it. I no longer want to hear criticism regarding books with the color pink on the covers. So what. I’m going to read the damn thing anyway. I’m NOT going to read some book with a scary picture on the cover (unless the cover can be removed), but I will most assuredly NOT skip over a book because there is lots of pretty pink on the cover. In fact, my initial response may even be “ohhh- pretty!” with a …

I love being in my forties. As a matter of fact, I think that the longer I live, the happier I am with my life. Don’t get me wrong. I thought I was happy at 25. I had been married for four years by then and was really starting to realize what being a grown up was all about. At 28, I was happy because I became a mother. At 32, I was happy because I was learning to appreciate being in the driver’s seat of my life as a …

Last night, The Man and I were watching news coverage of the events leading up to the Inauguration today. Of course, there were plenty of interviews with African Americans and what the Obama presidency means of them. Not so much with the interviews of “everybody” else.
WTF?
So, my comment is pretty much to the folks that control the media in this country. Please remember that Barack H. Obama is about to be sworn in as the President of the United States of America, and not as the President of the Black …

Umm. See. I love boots.
I love boots almost as much as I love books.
I feel sexiest in hot pair of jeans and some bad-ass boots. Add a fitted white shirt, and you can’t tell this chica nothin’!
I just found out that these boots (Charlie 1 Horse by Lucchese) are finally on sale.
What to do? What to do?

As you can see, there have been some changes here at Diva Fiction Bytes. A little less color, a bit more structure. Everything has its place.
And, just in time to start the year off on a positive foot. Whatever. I had to say that because it’s still January. Seems like whenever somebody makes a change in January, it’s attributed to the New Year. But I digress.
I love the new layout. It’s better organized and brighter. Exactly how I like things.
And it is just beckoning me to get my ass …

I have a few things to confess about Twitter.
First of all, I had an account for months before I learned out how to really “use” it.
I figured out how to send a “direct” message from my Beloved Blackberry just yesterday. What can I say, I’m a little slow. Thank goodness for Tweetdeck, Suzanne, and Yas.
I will say that I learned very quickly not to receive messages from EVERYONE I am following on my cell phone. Non-stop dinging or buzzing (when on vibrate) is very annoying, and marathon Tweet reading leaves …

Like half the country this time of year, I have recommitted myself to exercising.
Hold the applause.
While dropping a few pounds, having a positive way to deal with stress, and an overall healthier lifestyle are great benefits of exercise, the truth is, I just don’t want to have to buy new clothes.
I dropped a few pounds a couple of years ago and bought myself lots of jeans that weren’t from the “Mom” category. They look great with my standard white button downs, white pullovers, white T’s, and of course …

While everyone else is contemplating changes for the new year- things they are going to stop doing, as well as things they are going to start- I decided to come up with my Brokeback Mountain list: things I wish I could quit (but most assuredly won’t, even with a magic wand).
Watching the View
McDonald’s french fries
The Real Housewives…. all of them
Never letting the Crackberry out of my site
Chocolate covered pecans or almonds when I’m pmsing (like now)
Coca-cola (but I am going to cut back- really)
Yelling out the f-word at stupid …

It’s also the end of Work In Progress. The fourth, and final installment has been posted. I hope you enjoyed it.
And with endings come beginnings.
